A Brief Update

I just thought I would give you a brief update to explain my blogging absence of late.

To say that life has thrown my family curve balls since Christmas is a bit of an understatement. To cut a long story short both my Aunt and Uncle were taken into hospital over Christmas. My Aunt is very seriously ill and although my Uncle was discharged a few days ago he is now back in hospital although hopefully not for long. My Aunt's sister also ended up in hospital just after Christmas as well so my time has been taken up with visiting, providing transport etc.

I also have to go into Southampton Hospital today for an eye operation to repair a macular hole so I will be unable to drive for a few weeks but I am hoping that I will be able to see to crochet before too long. I have also downloaded four books from Audible so hopefully that will keep me sane as I have to lie face down for a few days which I am dreading.

I will leave you with a photo of the Moorland Blanket CAL that I am currently working on. This has been designed by the very talented Lucy from Attic24. I have completed week 1 but obviously this will have to be put on hold for a little while but I hope to catch up as soon as I am able. I am also crocheting a cot blanket for a work colleague which I had hoped to complete over the Christmas holiday but with feeling poorly from a flu type cold and with all the family issues it has taken a back seat. Hopefully I will be able to complete that one very soon.

Hopefully I will be back in Blogland before too long. Have a great weekend.

  1. Take care Jan, I don't envy you the lying face down, never mind the op! But enjoy your enforced rest and the Audible books, and I hope your recovery doesn't take too long and is successful. I too am doing Lucy's CAL, although have only managed 4 rows so far!

  3. I'm sorry your family has had a rough time of late, it's not nice to see family unwell. My family had a difficult year last year so I know how stressful it can be. Lying face down for a few days sounds quite unappealing, I hope you recover quickly. Your moorland blanket has got off to a great start. The colours look so pretty together. Take care.

  4. I hope that all goes well, lying face down doesn't sound good but it will pass. I have resisted that CAL,so far, I have too many blankets now.

  6. So sorry to hear of your troubles over Christmas, Jan and I hope all will make a good recovery. Lying face down sounds almost impossible; I hope you find a comfortable position and that the time passes quickly with your speaking books.
I love the colours of your Moorland blanket - and living as I do, on the edge of Bodmin Moor, I can attest to the authenticity of those lovely colours. You have inspired me to paint a moorland picture! Take care, Jan - all best wishes - Rosemary (Rambler)

  9. I'm sorry to hear this. I also don't envy the couple of face down days... hope you have a speedy recovery! That blanket is just gorgeous, I love the colours (perhaps on account of growing up surrounded by moorland!). If I could crochet I'd make myself one, hehe!

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your aunt and uncle, I do hope they will both be on the mend soon, I understand these worrying times. Big hugs and take care of yourself. I hope that your own operation goes really well and that the lying down isn't too terrible. Perhaps you can do lots sleeping - I hope you can. Be kind and gentle to yourself right now and although I know you are worrying about others do put you first. I will be and am thinking of you and hoping to hear that all went well very soon. Big hugs and all good thoughts to you. xx

  11. Oh, it sounds like you've had a lot on your plate, Jan... I do hope your operation was a success... Try to rest as much as you can--don't push yourself to get back to things too quickly. Thinking of you :)

  14. Hi Jan, hope things are picking up a bit for you now and that your eyes are now completely healed. You do seem to have been getting over it very quickly (or maybe I am just comparing with me who still struggles from time to time). Hope too that Mike is ok and they have been able to help after his tests.
love to you both Helen & Keith xx

  15. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough year Jan and good luck with the op.
When you're driving again maybe you could join me for "knit and natter" in the shop? I have 2 ladies I'm teaching to crochet and another expert would be a very welcome addition!! Take care, Tina
