Five On Friday - garden pics

I am sorry I am late posting today, I spent most of the morning in the Vodafone shop in town getting my new phone sorted and time has just run away with me this afternoon so this is a very quick post this week.

I am once again joining with Amy from Love Made My Home to bring you my five this week and I thought I would show you five photos of how my garden is progressing.

As regular readers will know the garden underwent a major refurbishment during the Winter to turn what was an unsightly jungle with horrible meadow grass into something that was more easy to manage. I am very new to gardening but am pleased with the progress the plants I have purchased, most of which are now growing in pots. I am attempting to grow plants that are bee and butterfly friendly - I haven't seen many butterflies yet but the bees certainly seem to appreciate my efforts!

I will keep you updated with my garden as it progresses, especially the flowers that I am attempting to grow from seed which I hope will start flowering before too long. Meanwhile I am trying to keep away from the Garden Centre as I am finding buying plants quite addictive and have spent far too much money on plants and pots during the last couple of months.

I will try and visit your blogs and leave a reply over the weekend, not sure where time is going at the moment and I know I am behind with visiting and replying at the moment - please forgive me, I do hope to catch up very soon. In the meantime pop along to Amy's blog to find links to more Five On Friday posts.

  1. It's all looking very neat and tidy, Jan, and much more manageable. The plants you have picked are lovely and I know that bees are attracted to that blue/purple spectrum so you should hear them humming away all day long.
My own garden resembles a jungle at the moment - lawns need strimming, then cutting; hedges need trimming, plants I've grown need planting out . . . I can't seem to keep on top of things at all.

  9. I like your arrangement of pots and you've some lovely plants there that will certainly attract the bees and, hopefully, the butterflies. Thank you for finding the time to visit my blog and leaving your kind message. Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

  10. Your pots are looking lovely. What a beautiful Johnson Blue geranium. It's easy to be addicted in the garden and spend a fortune. Perhaps you could split some of the plants as they get bigger. Often you can buy bargain pots at the end of the season. Enjoy your garden this weekend. B xx

  14. Glad to see your garden growing, you've put together a wonderful collection of bee and butterfly treats there. This year I'm attempting to grow sweet peas from seed but not having too much success with that project so far! Happy gardening.

  16. Your potted flowers are lovely...I am especially fond of purple. I found your blog through Amy's link up and can well imagine you are busy since you are not retired yet. I am 65 and find my days fly by and I am never bored in retirement. I worked as a teaching assistant in an elementary school in NY and truly loved my job, and share many of the interests you mentioned in your about you intro. Hope you are having a happy weekend!

  17. Looks like you have a green thumb, Jan! I love your flowers and am a bit envious that you can grow them without deer devouring everything like we have in our yard :)
