Crocheting up a storm!

I currently have two crochet WIP's (work in progress) on the go plus a few UFO's (unfinished objects) of which I will get back to one day - honest!

One is the crochet-along Lily Pond blanket which is run by Stylecraft. The patterns for this are being released every fortnight.  I have completed the first pattern release and the next part is due out tomorrow.  Oh my goodness, what a lot of ends to sew in on these pieces, not being sure about how the pattern was going to turn out I wasn't sure about crocheting in the ends so I sewed each one in at the end of each piece. Having completed all four pieces I heard on the grapevine at the weekend that they had just released finishing instructions for these four pieces so I had to dig them out again to finish the sides.

I am looking forward to tomorrow's pattern release as I understand it is going to be one of the flower squares (on the photo above it will be the four greenish looking squares in the middle) which will make a change from the endless stripes. I am enjoying this project as it is something different from anything I have previously made, I have never used three different hook sizes on a single strip of crochet before (needed to keep concentrating on the pattern to make sure I was using the correct hook size and the right colour).

In between the releases of the lily pond I am working on another blanket (I know I cannot get enough of making these although don't ask me what I am going to do with them all). I ordered Attic24's cottage ripple pack although having recently completed two different ripple blankets I wanted a change so I am using the colours to make squares to form a patchwork type blanket. These are really easy to do and just something to pick up between more complicated projects, they are also portable for when I am out and about.

I am hoping the finished blanket will look as lovely as the ripple does made in these colours.

The other exciting crochet related news is that I am teaching a crochet class at the weekend, really looking forward to this. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it goes ok. I am also looking forward to teaching an old school friend to crochet, she has just retired and when she returns from her holiday we are going to get together and crochet (in amongst lots of chatter I am sure).

  1. Jan, your Lily Pond blanket is coming along nicely, I look forward to seeing the next part. I am the same with blankets, and have quite a few but can't resist making another one, or three LoL. Oh yes, your squares are wonderful and I just love the colours, now you have me thinking this style could be my next blanket.
Good luck with your crochet classes, please let us know how it went.
